East Entrance To The South Rim Of The Grand Canyon Could Reopen May 21st

The National Park Service has announced tentative plans to reopen the east entrance to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on May 21st. NPS also says they will reopen park visitors center and other facilities on that date. The entrance and others have been closed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. NPS officials say they have been watching the Navajo Nation closely and following CDC guidance. The park is open through the main gate outside of Tusayan. The park has seen a drop of three million visitors from 2019 to 2020 due to the closures.
