Wet weather has created havoc in Oak Creek Canyon. Early Thursday morning, Sedona Fire crews were called to an accident in the canyon. When they arrived they saw a vehicle that left State Route 89A and hit a piece of construction equipment. Two people inside the vehicle were transported to Flagstaff Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Later in the morning, there were a pair of rockslides, just north of Sedona at milepost 375 and at the other end of the canyon before the switchbacks at milepost 389. Rain is expected in the area through the weekend and into next week. If you don’t have to take State Route 89A through Oak Creek Canyon in the next few days, use Interstate-17 as an alternate.
