DUI Arrest Turns Into An Assault On A Prescott Valley Police Officer

A DUI arrest turned into an assault on a police officer Sunday night in Dewey. Officers responded to an accident in the area of the Dewey Post Office at around 9:34 p.m. The accident was between two vehicles near the Post Office and a witness stated one person was intoxicated. Upon arrival, officers encountered a vehicle that was off the roadway at Graham Way and Kachina Place. Officers contacted the driver, Bryan Josue Lliviganay Bonilla, and he appeared to be impaired. He became belligerent and attempted to restart his vehicle and leave. Bonilla was then placed into custody and seated in the rear of the patrol vehicle. He then attempted to assault the arresting officer and during the subsequent impaired driver investigation at the Prescott Valley Police Station, Bonilla caused a minor injury. He was later transported to Yavapai County Jail where he was charged with multiple violations in connection with the accident and confrontation.
