DPS state troopers arrested a suspect wanted for murder after a pursuit on eastbound Interstate-40 near Winslow Wednesday. Troopers attempted to pull over 31-year-old Xavier Stitts of The Colony, Texas, but he failed to stop and a pursuit began. Troopers laid down spike strips at milepost 277 in Joseph City, deflating one of the tires. The vehicle came to a stop a short time later. Troopers arrested Stitts and the passenger, 32-year-old Antonio Watson of Robinsdale, Mississippi. Upon a search of the vehicle, troopers found a 9-milimeter handgun inside. Stitts was booked on charges of unlawful flight from law enforcement and possession of a firearm. Watson was found to have an outstanding warrant for two counts of attempted first degree murder out of Tennessee. He also had a failure to appear warrant on drug charges out of Florida. He was booked on additional charges of aggravated taking of an identity of another person, possession of a firearm during a felony and possession of a narcotic drug.
