Dortha Avenue To Reopen To Traffic Friday

It will be a little easier to drive through Sunnyside starting Friday. The City of Flagstaff says Dortha Avenue between Main and Rose streets will be reopened to traffic. The road had been closed to traffic due to Museum Fire post-wildfire flooding. The flood mitigation project entailed improvements to the open drainage channel between Cedar and Dortha avenues and reconstruction of the drainage inlet in Dortha to increase capacity. The project is one component of the overall Spruce Wash improvements in response to the Museum Fire post-wildfire flood impacts that the community experienced during the 2021 monsoon season. Officials tell residents to keep flood mitigation measures, such as sandbags, in place.
