Despite Jalen Cone’s career high 45 points, NAU went scoreless in the last 2:01 in overtime to fall to Southern Utah 106-101 Saturday in Cedar City. Cone was 18-of-27, including six-of-11 from three-point range, in the loss. Southern Utah went to the free-throw line a whopping 51 times in the game, making 42 free throws. NAU was 13-of-21 from the free throw line. SUU went to the line 34 times in the second half to NAU’s nine. Xavier Fuller added 14 points and Carson Towt and Oakland Fort chipped in with 10 points apiece. Tevian Jones led the Thunderbirds with 31 points, including 15-of-18 from the free-throw line. The Jacks are off until December 29th when they travel to Pocatello, Idaho to take on the Idaho State Bengals in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams.
