A man, who was Day 3 of Yavapai Silent Witness’ “Catch 22” program, has been arrested in Phoenix. On September 23rd of 2020, deputies went to a home in Congress, regarding a suspect vehicle that was involved in an ongoing trespassing and vehicle theft case. When deputies approached the home, 47-year-old Brian Aurelio saw them and ran. The deputies saw Aurelio jump a fence and enter a travel trailer parked on the property. As deputies neared the trailer, they heard a woman yell, “He’s got a gun.” Aurelio told the deputies he was not going to jail and intended to kill himself. As deputies attempted to talk with Aurelio, he came out of the trailer holding the woman around the neck as a hostage and indicating he was armed. Aurelio was able to access a quad vehicle parked nearby and took off with the woman as his passenger. The woman and the quad were found a short time later, but Aurelio wasn’t found. Last Wednesday, he was stopped by DPS in west Phoenix driving a stolen truck. He was arrested and booked on charges in Maricopa County and has charges pending from this incident in Yavapai County. He remains in custody in Phoenix.
