Day 22 Of “Catch 22” Focuses On A Chino Valley Man Once Convicted For An Assault On A Woman Back In 2021

Today is the last day of January’s “Catch 22” from Yavapai Silent Witness. Today we focus on finding 39-year-old Arturo Joseph Martinez. In the evening hours of July 3rd, 2021, Chino Valley Police were called to a home in the 18-hundred block of Grasshopper Lane in Chino Valley on a reported assault. When officers arrived they made contact with a woman who had a bloody face, two broken teeth and a bump on her forehead. The victim said Martinez lived with her and became angry when he learned she hadn’t gone to the grocery story to pick up some food items that he wanted. As a result, he struck her in the head and face, causing her to fall to the floor unconscious. One she regained consciousness, she tried to divert Martinez’s attention so she could escape through the window. He then rigged the window with a stick so she couldn’t leave. Martinez also took her phone away so she couldn’t call 911. He then left by stealing another roommate’s car. Martinez was later arrested and sentenced to some jail time. He was placed under probation, which he has violated. Martinez is a Hispanic man, six-feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has multiple tattoos, including one above his right eye. Even though his last known address was the home in Chino Valley, he has ties to the Phoenix area as well. Anyone providing information leading to Martinez’s arrest could earn up to a $1,000 reward. Anyone with information is urged to call Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232 or submit a tip online at yavapaisw.com.
