The Day 19 suspect in Yavapai Silent Witness’ “Catch 22” program has been arrested in Prescott Valley. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials got a call Wednesday that 39-year-old Vanessa Lynn Chavez was staying at a house in the 28-hundred block of North Cedar Springs Lane in the Castle Canyon Mesa area. Deputies asked her husband, 48-year-old Benny Chavez, if she was home and that she had warrants. He said he hadn’t seen her for weeks. Then just after 5 p.m., deputies saw Benny leaving the residence. They stopped his vehicle and searched it. As they completed their search they saw Vanessa run out of the back of the home. Deputies took her into custody. She was convicted of fraud charges back in 2013 after she stole thousands of dollars from an elderly man while she worked at a care home. She was booked on two warrants. After searching the residence Thursday, deputies found drugs and fire arms. They arrested Benny and booked him on charges related to the search. Both remain in the Yavapai County Jail.
