The Yavapai Board of Supervisors Chair, Mary Mallory, signed the Interim Fire Prohibition Order Monday, to prohibit the use of fireworks and add Stage One Fire Restrictions throughout all four fire zones of Yavapai County. The fire zones include Central, Northern, Southern, and Eastern areas of the county, which include the towns of Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Cordes Junction, Black Canyon City, Congress, North Wickenburg, Peoples Valley, Yarnell, Wilhoit, Cottonwood, Sedona, and Camp Verde. Fire activities that will be prohibited in these towns and cities are the sale or use of fireworks, building or using a fire unless it is within a developed site, smoking except in a vehicle, building, developed recreational site, or in an outdoor area away from flammable items, and operating equipment with a combustion engine without a spark device installed. The fire ban will go into effect Thursday at 8 a.m. and will stay in effect until the risk has lessened.
