A Cottonwood teenager passed away Monday after overdosing on what is believed to be fentanyl pills. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the four-thousand block of East Wild Stallion Trail. Detectives learned a friend of the 17-year-old male went to check on him after sending several text messages with no response. The friend entered the home and found the teen face down on his bed and was cold. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the teen dead at the scene. Detectives found an open safe near the body that contained 24 off-white pills stamped “M/30.” Initial tests results from the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s office indicate fentanyl was in the teen’s system. Detectives with Partner’s Against Narcotics Trafficking have opened an investigation into the matter. Yavapai Silent Witness always offers a one-thousand dollar reward for any tip leading to the arrest of person or persons dealing fentanyl.
