Cottonwood Man Charged In Connection With The U.S. Capitol Insurrection Released To His Mother

A Cottonwood man, who was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors for his role in the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, has been released to his mother’s custody while the case moves forward. Forty-eight-year-old Nathan Wayne Entrekin was charged last week with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. He appeared in federal court in Flagstaff Tuesday. The judge says she had concerns for his mental health and she was concerned that Entrekin “is easily swayed by the thoughts and actions of others.” He has to participate in a mental health assessment and can’t attend group events of 20 or more people. Images from security footage, and Entrekin’s phone, show him with a large group of people in the Capitol. Prosecutors say Entrekin entered the Capitol dressed as a gladiator, however he corrected them on video saying, “I am Captain Moroni. I am the William Wallace of the Book of Mormon.” Images taken on his phone show he was in the Senate Parliamentarian’s office and the office of Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon, among other places of the Capitol.
