Cottonwood Man Arrested For Sexual Assaulting A 75-Year-Old Woman

A Cottonwood man was arrested recently after he broke into a home and sexually assaulted an elderly woman. Cottonwood Fire and Medical were called to a home in the 900-block of East Mingus Avenue last Sunday at around 10:50 a.m. for a medical alert activation. A crew arrived first and found the front door unlocked but barricaded. Firefighters got into the house and found someone in a bedroom with the door shut. When police arrived they found 35-year-old Humberto Antonio Moreno from Cottonwood, partially clothed and laying on top of a 75-year-old woman, suffocating her. Moreno was pulled off of her and immediately taken into custody. Moreno was booked on multiple charges related to the incident including kidnapping, sexual assault and aggravated assault. He is currently in the Yavapai County Detention Center on a $50-thousand dollar cash bond.
