Cottonwood Man Arrested After Stealing A Truck And Running From Police

A Cottonwood man is in jail on a slew of charges including robbery, theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police received a call Sunday morning from a resident who was recently a victim of a vehicle theft. The person told police he saw his vehicle being driven by someone he didn’t know. When officers went to stop the truck, the suspect bailed from the vehicle to elude police. Officers began chasing the suspect, when they saw him toss a large fixed blade away to avoid detection. Police were able to nab the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Joshua James Scott. Officers discovered Scott was also responsible for a robbery that took place on Ogden Ranch Road. It was reported that he pulled up in the stolen truck and pointed a “black pistol” at a couple walking in the area. He demanded they give him their cell phones, but refused and ran from the area. During a search of the truck, officers found several items stolen from Home Depot with an estimated value of $90-thousand. Officers found the reported pistol and determined it was a BB gun. Scott was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on several felony charges. He remains in custody on $25-thousand bond.
