Coconino Stays Undefeated, Flagstaff Loses To Mohave On Homecoming

The Coconino Panthers remain undefeated and the Flagstaff Eagles have lost three straight as the high school football season has reached the midway point. Junior running back Zach Bennett had 181 yards on 31 carries and three touchdowns as the Panthers beat the Bradshaw Mountain Bears, in Prescott Valley, 28-14. Bailey McCauslin had 91 yards on six carries and a touchdown in the win. The Panthers are 5-0 for the first time since 1983 and will try to go to 6-0 next week when they host the Prescott Badgers at Cromer Stadium. The Eagles were trying to snap a two-game losing streak as they faced Mohave for homecoming. The Eagles led 20-7 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hang on as they fell to the Mohave Thunderbirds 21-20. The Eagles had three long touchdown runs called back on holding penalties in the game. The Eagles are 2-3 and 0-2 in the Grand Canyon Region and will take on Bradshaw Mountain in the Skydone on Friday.
