Coconino Parks And Recreation Receives Over $900-Thousand In Grants For Park Improvements

The Coconino Parks and Recreation Department has been selected by the Arizona State Parks Board to receive over $900-thousand to go to the Fort Tuthill Improvement Project. The money comes from the 2022 American Rescue Plan Grant. The project will provide more outdoor opportunities to park visitors by improving two parking lots at the county park. With winter weather here, the park has seen more visitors and more overall use, requiring the lots to be plowed often throughout the winter to ensure the safety of the visitors. A new sewer line will also be installed to help with campground improvements as well as an improvement to the walkway leading to the outdoor amphitheater. Once the Coconino County Board of Supervisors approves the grant awards, the project will begin.
