The Coconino National Forest is seeking public input on proposed free implementation at eight campgrounds. The proposal would charge a ten-dollar fee at Clint’s Well and Kehl Springs. There is no fee at either campground currently. The plan will raise fees at other campgrounds. Blue Ridge would go from eight to 20 dollars, Elks Group and Long Valley Work Center Group would go from $30 a night Sunday through Thursday and $50 Friday and Saturday, to $135 a night. Other campgrounds are listed on their forest’s website. Of the fees collected, 95-percent of the money remains on the forest to operate, maintain and improve the facilities and programs at the campgrounds. Officials say the increase was based on a greater use at campgrounds. Public comment is needed by October 15th.
