Coconino High School alum J.J. Nakai is transferring to NAU. Reports surfaced this morning that the former Panther had entered the transfer portal and was leaving the University of Nevada. Lumberjacks head coach Loree Payne says “We’re obviously really excited to bring JJ home,” She said “for her to finish out her career in her hometown in front of her family and friends; it’ll be special for her and our program.” J.J. spent one season at Nevada and played in 21 games. She averaged over 14 minutes and nearly four points a game. J.J. averaged just over 24 points per game at Pima Community College and was a junior college All-American.
