The Coconino Panthers boys basketball team is 4-0 on the season after their 64-44 win over the Mingus Marauders Friday night in Flagstaff and a 59-30 win on the road at Lee Williams Saturday. The Panthers struggled a bit early Friday, with Preston Olney getting in early foul trouble, but guard Mitchell Jacobson stepped up and hit three, three-pointers in the second half and finished with 14 points. Manuel Cardoza added 13 points and Jacob Begay chipped in with 12 points. Trey Peters lead Mingus with 11 points as the Marauders fell to 1-5 on the season. Olney scored 20 points and Amare Tom added 13 in Saturday’s win against the Volunteers. Coconino will next take on the Flagstaff Eagles at Flag High Tuesday night. The Eagles traveled to Prescott and fell to the Badgers Friday 58-48. The Eagles hosted unbeaten Paradise Honors Saturday and fell 80-46. In girls basketball action, Coconino beat Mingus on the road 60-50 and Flagstaff beat Prescott 63-23. The Flagstaff girls team then went to Phoenix Saturday and beat Paradise Honors, 41-38.
