The Coconino girls and boys basketball teams, along with the Flagstaff girls team, found out their seedings for the 4A State Playoff on Saturday. The Flagstaff Eagles are seeded sixth and will host the 11th-seeded American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek Tuesday night. The Eagles finished with a 16-2 record and a perfect 11-0 mark in the Grand Canyon Region. The Patriots went 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the 4A Desert Sky Region. The two teams played back on February 19th in Queen Creek with the Eagles winning, 63-46. The Coconino girls team is seeded ninth and will travel to eighth-seeded Estrella Foothills Wolves. The Panthers finished with a 11-3 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the Grand Canyon Region. Coconino lost twice to Flagstaff and to top-seeded Seton Catholic. The Wolves went 13-2 overall and a perfect 10-0 to win the 4A Southwest Region. On the boys side, two very familiar teams will battle in the first round. The fourth-seeded Coconino Panthers will host the 13th-seeded Prescott Badgers Wednesday night. The Panthers finished 14-1 overall, with their only loss coming to Bradshaw Mountain, which they avenged last Thursday. The Badgers finished 10-6 overall and 8-4 in the region. Coconino won both meetings against Prescott this season by a total of ten points. If Coconino wins, they will host a second-round game on Saturday. One other 4A Grand Canyon Region team made the playoffs in both girls and boys and that’s Bradshaw Mountain on the boys side. They are the nine-seed and they will travel to Estrella Foothills to take on the eighth-seeded Wolves.
We will broadcast Tuesday’s ALA-QC-Flagstaff game, right after the NAU-Idaho game, and Wednesday’s Prescott-Coconino game on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930.
