Coconino Falls To Arcadia 23-20 In The First Round Of The 4A Football State Playoffs

It was a game of runs, but it was the running of Arcadia running back Brady Forst that carried the Titans to a 23-20 win over Coconino in the first round of the 4A football state playoffs Thursday night. Forst had 171 yards rushing on 24 carries and a pair of touchdowns in the win. The Titans scored first on a field goal, then Coconino scored 14 unanswered points to take a 14-3 lead. Arcadia would add a touchdown as Coconino led 14-10 at halftime. Arcadia would hold the Panthers to a three-and-out and take the lead, but they missed the point after to lead 16-14. Coconino junior kicker Jose-Miguel Villenueva nailed a 47-yard field goal as Coconino retook the lead at 17-16. Villenueva would add a 37-yard field goal to increase the Panther lead to 20-16 lead. The Titans would take the lead for good after they scored a touchdown with 1:31 to play. Coconino would get to about midfield then the Titans picked off quarterback Colton Buckingham for a second time in the game, to seal the win. In his final game, senior running back Bridger French had 134 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown for Coconino.
