Coconino County To Go Into Stage Three Fire Restrictions Wednesday Morning

Coconino County will go into Stage Three fire restrictions Wednesday at 8 a.m., right as the Coconino and Kaibab national forests go into full closure. The ordinance applies to county public lands, as well as private lands in the unincorporated areas of the county. Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Ryan says “with this very active wildfire season, this move is the right decision. We need everyone to abide by these restrictions and appreciate everyone’s cooperation.” Stage Three restrictions prohibits the use of open fire, campfire, fireworks and combustion events. The exception for open fire, combustion and campfires would be if a person has a written permit, emergency repair of public utilities and other health and safety mitigation measures, or use by a federal, state or local officer who is on duty. Residents can still use mechanical operations such as lawn care, home construction and community clean-up, but use your best judgement. Anyone using this equipment that leads to a fire can be held legally responsible. The county will be in Stage Three fire restrictions until further notice
