The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has received a $30-thousand grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The grant is emphasized to help with DUI’s and Impaired Driving Enforcement. Since Proposition 207 was passed, there has been a rapid increase of marijuana impaired drivers. With a record number of fatal accidents in 2020 resulting from drunk or high driving, CCSO says these rates are only going to go up. Over the past year, two Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies have received special training in impaired driving, with hopes to send more deputies in future years.
