Detectives with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office are looking into a stabbing Thursday at the Grey Mountain Thriftway north of Flagstaff. Deputies were called to the area at around 3:42 p.m. on a report of a fight and stabbing. DPS state troopers were first on the scene and found a person with minor injuries a short distance from where the incident happened. Deputies arrived and found a person and another involved party at a home in Cameron. One of the two had been stabbed. Investigators say several people were in a vehicle in the Flagstaff area earlier in the day, picked up another person and headed north on Highway 89. As the vehicle approached the Thriftway, two of the people inside started to argue. The driver pulled over and three people got out. The two started to fight while a third tried to stop it. The stabbing took place and the suspect left the scene headed north. The stabbing victim was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The suspect has been identified as a resident of the Tonalea area. The stabbing victim is from the Cameron area and suffered serious injuries. If anyone has information into the incident, contact the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.
