The Memorial Day Weekend resulted in a large number of calls for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. During the weekend, deputies responded to over 14-hundred calls for service, including both citizen and officer initiated activities. Deputies made 572 forest and community patrols, 212 traffic stops, involving seven arrests, and 128 business checks over the weekend. There were 60 disturbing the peace calls, 26 vehicle accidents, 19 attempt to locate calls and 38 emergency related calls. A total of 72 people were booked into the Coconino County jail, 27 were booked on felony charges. There were nearly 470 more calls Memorial Day Weekend than the weekend before.
