Coconino County saw its highest new cases of COVID-19 to date last week. County health officials say last week alone, the county saw 920 new cases of the virus. Of the new cases, 564 were traced back to Flagstaff area zip codes. County epidemiologist Matt Maurer says with the spike in cases, it’s a little discouraging because of the work that is being done to help keep cases down. Maurer says “it’s hard to see our numbers continue climb and all of those benchmarks continue to stay, or at least reach into that substantial category.” Health officials remind residents to wash your hands, social distance and wear a mask when you can’t distance. Also if you feel sick, stay home. Saliva and swab testing is being done at Fort Tuthill County Park. The hours are 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday for saliva testing only from 8 a.m. until noon. If you do the saliva test, you’ll need to register online at the county’s COVID-19 website.
