Coconino County Sees Over 12-Hundred New Positive Cases Of COVID-19 Last Week

Coconino County is seeing its highest number of cases of COVID-19 to date. Health officials say there were over 12-hundred new cases reported last week, which set a new high for caseS in the county by over 200. Of the over 13-thousand cases that have been positive since testing for the virus began, 50-percent of them have come in the 20-44 year old age group. The next highest group of cases is 20-years-old and younger at 19-percent. The highest rate of fatalities from COVID-19 has come in the 65-and-older age group, which is just over 50-percent of the deaths. As of Wednesday night, Flagstaff Medical Center reported 61 patients with COVID-19 at the hospital, while Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood reported 28 cases there. The COVID testing site at Fort Tuthill is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturday’s 8 a.m. until noon, for saliva testing only. The NAU Fieldhouse is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for saliva testing only and the parking lot at Christ’s Church of Flagstaff is open seven days a week for testing from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be COVID-19 testing in Williams at 601 North 7th Street from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday.
