Coconino County officials have identified the inmate who suffered a medical emergency while being transported from Page to Flagstaff last month. Sheriff’s officials say 32-year-old David Depue was arrested by DPS on theft, criminal trespass, burglary and driving with a suspended license and fictitious plate in July. While being processed into the Page facility earlier in the week, Depue refused to answer any medical related questions regarding COVID-19. Officers noticed a cut to his finger and took him to the hospital in Page, where he refused medical treatment. Depue began to have a medical related emergency en route to Flagstaff back on July 31st. Detention officers pulled over and began life-saving measures on him. He was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center and was pronounced dead about an hour after he arrived. The cause of death remains under investigation.
