Coconino County has entered Stage 2 fire restrictions. The county Board of Supervisors voted Thursday to enact the restrictions immediately. The order prohibits all open fires and campfires, but propane products can still be used. Smoking is also prohibited, unless it’s inside a vehicle, building or developed recreation site. The restriction also includes the prohibiting of welding or using torches with an open flame, as well as operating a chainsaw or any other piece of equipment powered by an internal combustion engine. Possessing, discharging or using any fireworks is also prohibited, as well as using explosive targets and tracer round ammunition. The restrictions coincide with both the Coconino and Kaibab national forests going into Stage 2 restrictions Saturday. The restrictions will be in effect until further notice.
