Coconino County Deputy Manager and CFO Mike Townsend is leaving the county for a job with the state. The Board of Trustees of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System voted Monday to appoint Townsend as its administrator. Townsend has been with Coconino County since 2000 and will lead the agency that provides retirement benefits to Arizona’s first responders, corrections officers, judges and elected officials. During his time with the county, Townsend served as Deputy County Manager, Chief Finance Officer and Interim County Manager. He starts his new position with the state on December 2nd. The county will start the process of hiring a new deputy county manager and chief financial officer within the coming month.
