Coconino Beats Mingus At Home, Flagstaff Falls At Home To Bradshaw Mountain Friday Night

The Coconino Panthers got back on the winning track, while the Flagstaff Eagles fell flat in the Skydome Friday night. The Panthers got a monster night from junior running back Cooper French as Coconino beat Mingus, 28-14. French had another monster game. French had a school-record 38 carries for 310 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The 310 yards was the second most in school history. The record is held by David Quick who rushed for 340 yards against Mohave in 2016. French has rushed for 893 yards in five games. The sixth-ranked Panthers had 455 yards of total offense and held a strong Mingus rushing attack to 127 yards on 36 carries. Coconino now heads to Prescott Valley to take on Bradshaw Mountain next Friday. The Bears went into the Skydome and blanked Flagstaff, 19-0. Despite getting many players back from injury during the bye week, this game was anything but positive for the Eagles. The Bears lost starting running back Elijah Acuna in the first half with an apparent shoulder injury, but sophomore Jordan Kelley stepped in and ran for 84 yards and a touchdown in the win. Quarterback Grady Rose was 12-of-16 for 104 yards and a touchdown for Bradshaw Mountain. The Bears held Flagstaff to just 104 yards of total offense. The Eagles will try to get back into the playoff race as they head to Prescott to take on the Badgers next Friday night.
