The Coconino Panthers jumped out to a first quarter lead and never looked back as they beat the Flagstaff Eagles Saturday, 67-37, to sweep the season series between the two rivals. Panthers senior guard Preston Olney continued his dominant play as of late, and led Coconino with 21 points. Jacob Begay scored nine points and Hayden Nez added eight for the Panthers, who improve to 7-0 so far this season. Josh Lenners scored nine points to lead the Eagles, who have lost five of their last six games. Coconino was dominant defensively. Everytime the Eagles went down to Nick Morrow, he was swarmed by a host of Panthers. Morrow was held to five points. Flagstaff will head to Scottsdale on Tuesday to take on the Coronado Dons, while Coconino hosts Seton Catholic on Monday. We will have Monday’s game on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 starting at 3:45 p.m.
