This year’s Climb to Conquer Cancer event in Flagstaff has been moved to a virtual event. Event organizers say the move was made out of an abundance of caution and due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of hiking Arizona Snowbowl, climb teams and participants are encouraged to practice the CDC social distancing guidelines and plan a walk or hike along any of Arizona’s trails on Saturday, August 15th. Participants will be able to fundraise online and via the American Cancer Society’s mobile fundraising app leading up to the event day. By posting pictures of their adventures to social media and using the hashtag #FlagstaffClimb, participants will bring awareness to the disease that will affect an estimated 36,730 Arizonans this year. Last year, more than 25-hundred people hiked Arizona Snowbowl and raised over $145,000 to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. For more information on this year’s event, log onto FlagstaffClimb.com or go to the Flagstaff Climb Facebook page.
