The City of Flagstaff is partnering with the Coconino County Flood Control District to assist neighborhoods below the Museum Fire burn scar in preparing for the 2022 monsoon season. Pallets of new sandbags and trash bins will be placed throughout neighborhoods for residents to repair sandbag walls. The City of Flagstaff reminds residents that only broken sandbags on the outer end of the wall need to be replaced, and to place cinders in the designated trash bins provided, take them to Cinder Lake Landfill or to the sandbag station at 2625 North King Street. As volunteers and crews are short-staffed, the City of Flagstaff is asking residents to ask friends and family to assist in repairs. Residents in the Museum Flood area are at high-risk for post-wildfire flooding and are encouraged to buy flood insurance with the National Flood Insurance Program at FloodSmart.Gov. Materials will be provided by the city from Friday through July 1st.
