City Of Flagstaff Adjusts Public Comment Policy For Council Meetings

The City of Flagstaff is adjusting the way public comments are handled for the Flagstaff City Council. Officials said Friday public comments will no longer be read by staff during council meetings and all comments will be taken either by telephone or accepted as written comment. Officials say this process is closer to what the city uses when meetings are held in council chambers. It will also allow council members to ask questions of the commenters. When staff read comments, there was no chance for interaction or follow-up. If you wish to address council with a public comment, submit a first and last name, phone number and agenda item number you wish to speak on. When the agenda item comes up, you will be called to comment. All comments otherwise will be considered written comments and will be documented into the record. This comes off the heels of nine hours of public comment last week. If you would like to email the mayor and council directly you can at council@flagstaffaz.gov.
