Cinders OHV, Sunset Crater National Monument Reopened, Lockett Meadow To Remain Closed For Some Time

Several areas of the Coconino National Forest have reopened following the Pipeline Fire. The portion of the forest that was closed following the fire has been reduced in scale. All areas located east of Highway 89, including the Cinders OHV area and the Sunset Crater National Monument have reopened. Though many portions of the forest are back open, the public is urged to use caution while in the area. Post-fire hazards may include falling rocks, falling trees and flood waters. Some portions of the forest will remain closed for the foreseeable future for public safety. The areas include Lockett Meadow, which will be re-evaluated during the winter. Bonito and O’Leary campgrounds, along with Little Elden Springs Horse Camp will remain closed the rest of the summer.
