Chino Valley Police Warn Of Scam Calls Using Their Credentials

Chino Valley Police say they are getting reports of scammers using local numbers to try and commit a crime. Officials say scammers are telling callers that they are from the Chino Valley Police Department and says the victims’ social security number has been used and they need to verify the details with the officer. Officers will never ask you for your social security number over the phone, tell you a warrant has been issued for your arrest, ask to pay a fine over the phone to avoid jail time, or ask for donations. As always, if a person on the phone asks for you to get a pre-paid gift card to pay for a fine, or make other purchases, it’s a scam. Authorities say to never give your personal information over the phone.
