A house fire in Chino Valley claimed the lives of three dogs and a cat Saturday morning. Central Arizona Fire and Medical crews responded to the fire at around 11:40 a.m. in the 26-hundred block of Eldred Road. When they arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from the roof and at the back of the house. The residents were not home at the time. A neighbor called 911 after being alerted by the sound of smoke alarms coming from the home. Crews entered the home and found the animals inside. Officials say the four died from smoke inhalation. The heaviest fire damage came from the kitchen and dining area, although a large portion of the home had smoke and heat damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
