A Bullhead City man has been arrested on first-degree murder charges in connection with the stabbing death of his mother. Police say 43-year-old Travers Proulx got into an argument with his mother early Sunday morning. Police say his brother woke up to the sound of her screaming and tried to get his brother out of the house. Travers threatened to kill his brother and stepfather before he left the scene. Paramedics arrived and pronounced 74-year-old Bette Vaughn dead from her injuries. Proulx grew up in St. Johns and attended high school there in the early 1990s. The family had since moved to Bullhead City. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office found a knife that they believe was used in the attack in a neighbor’s yard. He was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman. The incident remains under investigation.
