A Cottonwood Man Missing For Six Weeks Has Been Found Dead

A man, who was last known to be in Cottonwood six weeks ago, has been found dead. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 43-year-old Spencer Goddard Morton of Cottonwood, was last known to be camping in the area of Ogden Ranch Road back on September 2nd. Deputies went to the area where Morton was reportedly seen and there was no sign of him. A hunter called authorities back on October 19th to report he found a decomposing dead body. Detectives arrived on the scene and determined the body was Mortons. The body was located in a remote area south of Odgen Ranch Road and well west of Highway 260, outside of Cottonwood. The remains were released to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner who is in the process of determining cause of death and confirming identity based on medical records.
