The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, along with the U.S. Forest Service, are looking for a Native American, or Hispanic, male who is wanted in connection with starting the Caves Fire Saturday morning. Fire crews camped out on a forest service road, saw a fire on the east side of Highway 89 at around 9:45 a.m. south of Landfill Road and responded to contain it. They held it to about a tenth of an acre. The crew noticed a dark-skinned male near the start of the fire. The man fled on foot east toward Cave Crater. The man was around 30-years-old, standing five-foot-ten to five-foot-eleven inches tall and was wearing blue jeans, a gray t-shirt with a large tear on the right side. He had short black hair and was described as being “dirty.” If anyone has information about the incident, or the suspect’s whereabouts, contact the U.S. Forest Service.
