At least four people were injured after three separate, chain reaction accidents all in the same area Wednesday morning west of Flagstaff on eastbound Interstate-40. Ponderosa Fire, Camp Navajo Fire Department, Guardian Medical Transport, and DPS responded to the scene, just west of the A-1 Mountain Exit at around 7:38 a.m. When crews arrived, they quickly tended to a vehicle that was on fire. Authorities shut down eastbound I-40 to provide patient care and clear the road of damaged vehicles and debris. Four people were transported to Flagstaff Medical Center. Traffic on I-40 is backed up to Bellemont.
