Ash Fork Couple Arrested In Cordes Junction On Drug Charges

An Ash Fork couple were arrested last week after a witness saw them injecting drugs at a Cordes Junction gas station. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies received the tip last Wednesday at around 2 p.m. after a person saw 31-year-old Richard Killeen and 33-year-old Shannon Barnard, both of Ash Fork, inject a drug, later to be discovered as fentanyl. Deputies arrived and initially spoke to Killeen, who was in the driver’s seat, and could see the cap to a syringe lying on the ground. A record check revealed Richard had several outstanding warrants out of Maricopa County and was detained. Barnard admitted to prior drug use, but denied taking anything at that time. Deputies noted both had evidence of injection sites on different places on their bodies. A search of the vehicle uncovered about 100 pills, a Narcan nose applicator, a needle and a small baggie containing less than an ounce of heroin. Both were booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on drug charges and both remain in custody on $12,500 bond.
