Arizona’s Jacob Chansley Was Sentenced To 41 Months In Prison For His Part In The U.S. Capitol Riot

Gilbert’s Jacob Anthony Chansley, also known as the “QAnon Shamen,” has been sentenced to 41 months in prison in connection with the breaching of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. The 34-year-old was part of a group who disrupted a Congressional session of counting electoral votes from the 2020 presidential election. He was in the first group of 30 rioters to enter the building. Chansley walked in shirtless, wearing a Viking hat and carrying a six-foot spear. He had his body painted in red, white, and blue colors and was carrying an American flag. After rummaging through many rooms of the Capitol, he settled at Vice President Mike Pence’s desk and proceeded to take pictures of himself and write notes on the desk. Chansley was arrested a few days later, on January 9th, and has been in custody since. He pleaded guilty on September 3rd to obstruction of an official proceeding. Chansley is also ordered to pay two-thousand-dollars in restitution and serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
