The Arizona man, connected to two rape cases nearly 20 years ago in Flagstaff and southern Utah, accepted a plea deal Tuesday. Officials say 60-year-old David Louis Slade from Eagar, was originally charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse, three counts of sexual assault, and burglary. Slade’s criminal history dates back to 1988 when he was convicted for sexual abuse and failed to register as a sex offender in Apache County. In 2003, Slade then sexually assaulted a woman after breaking into her residence in Flagstaff. A year later, Slade sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in Cedar City, Utah. Slade’s DNA wasn’t matched to the cases until 2019, and he was arrested in 2020. Slade pleaded guilty to sexual assault and burglary and will serve a total of 15 years for all of his crimes in an Arizona prison. Slade’s sentencing is set for June 1st.
