Arizona Downs in Prescott Valley will be back up and running this summer under new management. The race track has named longtime racing industry leader, Michael Weiss as the new general manager. Weiss has worked at numerous tracks around the country. He also has deep ties to Arizona horse racing, most recently serving as general manager of Rillito Park Racetrack in Tucson. The move comes at an important time as the state legislature is considering a bill to modernize waging at horse tracks and OTBs. Senate Bill 1794 would bring more than $300-million in capital investment to Arizona horse racing, including a new track at Arizona Downs, while generating more than $100-million in new state tax revenues. Live racing returns to Arizona Downs June 1st and will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday through September 15th.
