Arizona Budgets 68-Million Dollars For Additional Broadband Expansion Along I-40 West Of Flagstaff

The Arizona Department of Transportation is expanding its broadband construction to areas west of Flagstaff along Interstate-40 soon. Governor Doug Ducey was in Flagstaff Friday and made the big announcement. Ducey said, “we’re dedicating 68-million additional dollars to develop the 195 miles of broadband along I-40 west.” He added, “this broadband expansion will have significant impact in Coconino, Yavapai and Mohave counties.” Ducey says, “the new connectivity will give more homes access through fast, reliable and safe internet.” Installing fiber optic cable has been ongoing south of Flagstaff along I-17 for months, with that project slated to be finished by the middle of the year. ADOT is partnering with the Arizona Commerce Authority and Sun Corridor Network. This new project could begin construction perhaps by the end of the year.
