APS Reminds The Public To Be On Alert For Scammers

Arizona Public Service is advising the public of scammers and what to do when scammed. Whether it’s over the phone, door-to-door, or via email, scammers often use a method called spoofing, by disguising their identity as a known source such as police departments, government agencies, or businesses. Scammers may claim they will “end service” within an hour if payments aren’t completed, tricking the person to pay quickly, normally with a prepaid debit card. If a person says you have to pay by a prepaid debit card, it’s a scam. APS reminds the public to never share personal banking or account information, hang up immediately, close the door, or if in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.
