APS Claims To Be 100% Clean Energy By 2050

Arizona’s largest electricity supplier says it will be 100-percent clean by 2050. Arizona Public Service announced Wednesday they are targeting to be 65-percent clean energy by 2030 and ending all reliance on coal by 2031. Pacificorp announced earlier this month that a unit at the Cholla Power Plant in Joseph City will shut down by years end, leaving two units operational at the plant. APS says the final two will be shut down within five years. Companies are turning to clean energy. Navajo Generating Station in Page closed down late last year and SRP plans to close the Coronado Generating Station near St. Johns by 2035. All are coal-fired power plants.
