An SUV plowed through the Chipotle Restaurant, injuring four people, including the driver, Tuesday afternoon in Flagstaff. The white Kia Sportage went through the front of the store with customers inside at around 5:10 p.m. Joel Dugdale tells KAFF News he was in the restaurant at the time. He says “I was standing at the checkout with my two-year-old daughter when it happened.” He says, “I heard a huge crash and exited the back door.” He says he came around the front and saw that a few people were injured. Witnesses tell police they saw the SUV heading toward the restaurant at which the driver appeared to have suffered a medical emergency. The vehicle crashed through the building coming to a rest inside. Two people inside, along with the driver, were injured and taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. One other person was treated on the scene. Dugdale says, “it could have been much worse. When we got there, there was no line, but there was a small line when the accident happened and there wasn’t many people sitting on that side of the seating area.” The incident is under investigation. The restaurant will be closed so repairs can be made.
